This thing we call life can be very challenging at the best of times and often the challenges can go on for some time.
What do we do when life throws us a curve ball, or even better when it throws us multiple balls at the same time much like one of those tennis ball machines? Do we close up tight? Do we feel defeated, lost and possibly even angry about our situation?
Welcome to my first post on Life and Music. This blog is geared to examining the various challenges we face in life, how we choose to address these challenges and how music can play a part in helping us navigate through our life challenges.
You’ll see how music can be used as a key ingredient in putting us in the right state of mind to start the journey.
I’ll provide my perspective on how we can “together” get effectively through our rapidly changing times and I’ll also provide a song recommendation I like to call my “happy track” of the week.
Ever notice when you’re feeling down there’s a pretty good chance you’ll hear a song that will send you deeper into that down state?
Well the good news is that the right music can do the exact opposite and put you right back on the “happy path”.
Something about beautiful uplifting music gets into your soul and has the ability to change your thoughts and feelings. So find that song or piece of music that just lights you up every time you hear it.
This is what I like to call first gear or Shift #1. Much like a car you can only go so far in first gear so we need to move into second gear or Shift #2.
Shift #2 is exercising gratitude. This is a critical step in achieving momentum and keeps us moving forward. The thing is, when we shift our focus to the things we are grateful for it just multiplies. The beauty in this is that we all have at least one thing to be grateful for and this act of listing the things we are grateful for can become a daily activity that is very positive and empowering.
Let’s move into third gear or Shift #3. This step is all about reflection. Now that you are in a much happier and more empowering place, it’s time to take a look at what got you down initially and find the gift in it.
In these types of situations there is always a gift given to us and we just need to find it. The gift could be a change we need to make in our life, something we simply need to face up to that we’ve been ignoring for some time or facing someone who’s been annoying us or getting under our skin.
Whatever it is, it’s a reflection of something we don’t like about ourselves. Really take some time to digest this as it’s a BIG one.
Finally we come to fourth gear or Shift #4. Shift #4 is all about taking action; it’s about what we are going to do next to deal with what we’ve discovered. Taking action could be something as simple as becoming more aware of old patterns that no longer serve us or making a decision to have a daily meditation or prayer practice.
I hope these ideas help you progress positively on your life journey. For me it’s all about “Life and Music”! I look forward to chatting with you soon.
My “happy track” for this week is below – Vampiro by Alex Cuba. This track ALWAYS puts me in good spirits so I carry his album Agua del pozo with me everywhere! Hope you have the opportunity to check it out via the link below.
